Mixed Ages

This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth through age five—and through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers—grouping children of a variety of ages in one class. This approach fosters natural, family-style learning where younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together.

Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments. We welcome the whole family to join in this important family music experience and any caregiver—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the child(ren) to class.

Each semester includes:

  • 10 weekly 45-minute classes teaching a new song collection every fall, winter and spring.
  • New CD's each semester with the songs, rhythm chantes, "play-alongs", tonal and rhythm patterns used in class.
  • Beautifully illustrated songbook with family activities to enjoy at home.

Sing Shalom

Music Together Sing Shalom is a pilot program being developed in collaboration between The Jewish Education Project and local Music Together centers in NYC and Long Island. The weekly parent-child music classes are uniquely designed for Jewish families with young children using the internationally recognized Music Together early childhood music education program, enriched with songs from throughout the Jewish world. Each week, a community of families comes together to sing, dance, and play along in a class led by a trained Music Together teacher. The music includes multicultural traditional and original Music Together songs, supplemented with Jewish repertoire. You’ll learn lots of ways to interact musically with your child, supporting their development, strengthening family relationships, and helping them connect with the Jewish music tradition. And best of all, it’s fun for everyone! For families with children 0-5; siblings may attend together and baby siblings under 9 mos. attend free. Tuition includes:

  • 10 weekly imaginative and engaging 45-minute classes

  • Recordings and songbook to use at home

  • Digital and printed resources
